Thistlerose Publications maintains one of the web’s largest and most diverse collections of electronic literature - and all for free. Although this set of writings started out as a supplement to William McGaughey’s book Five Epochs of Civilization, it has expanded into other areas such as:
history of communication technology
labor economics (shorter work hours)
landlord activism in Minneapolis
a scheme to take over the government
etc., etc.
This collection of writings is split between twelve different web sites, each with many pages. Besides English, most sites have parallel pages in French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Italian. A few also include pages in simplified Chinese, Indonesian, Turkish, Polish, and Dutch. See language links at the bottom of the page.
